Kathryn (Katie) Hayes
Biography
Kathryn (Katie) Hayes serves as Lead Law Clerk at The Law Office of CN Norris. Before being promoted into her current role, she worked as an Intern and as a Law Clerk at the firm. Her past experience includes working as a Legal Intern, advocating for youth who had previously been incarcerated, working as a Research Assistant for Illinois Decisions on Search and Seizure, and serving as a Fellow on Governor JB Pritzker’s Campaign.
She holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in English and Communications Studies with a minor in Creative Writing from Augustana College, and a Certification for Research from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). During her time at Augustana College, her studies focused on racial disparities in the criminal justice system. When assessing structural racism and inequality, it became clear to her that many of those most vulnerable to the criminal justice system were those most heavily preyed upon by that system. This pushed her to pursue a legal career in order to garner the technical skills necessary to advocate for others.
Katie is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, the Chicago Bar Association, the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois, the National Association of Women Lawyers, and the Illinois State Bar Association.
